Officially named and documented in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus, the Smooth Aster is a North American native that produces pale lavender blooms well after other flowers, brightening the autumn landscape. It is found from east to west, and from parts of Canada down to Georgia and New Mexico, attracting butterflies and pollinators. The Smooth Aster is a larval host for the Pearl Crescent butterfly. White tailed deer enjoy browsing on Smooth Asters, but the plants grow well after being grazed. They are excellent for open meadow areas or lightly wooded areas.

Ships in a 2.5" pot.
